Clotrimazole Cream 1% contains the active substance clotrimazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called imidazoles and is an antifungal agent which fights the cause of fungal skin infections.
Clotrimazole is used to treat fungal skin infections such as ringworm, athlete’s foot, fungal nappy rash, and fungal sweat rash. It is also used to relieve irritation of the vulva (external thrush) or the end of the penis, which may be associated with thrush.
When Clotrimazole is applied to the infected area of skin, it works by destroying the fungus or yeast which has caused the infection.

Usage
Clotrimazole can be used by most adults and children however it isn’t always appropriate for everyone. To make sure that it is safe for you, inform a doctor if you have ever had a hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or any other medicine in the past.
Adults, children, and the elderly: Apply cream thinly and evenly to the affected area, 2 or 3 times daily, and rub in gently. Treatment should be continued for at least 2 weeks.
Important
- It is usually deemed safe to use clotrimazole during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.
- Some medicines can affect the way clotrimazole works. They can also make you more likely to get side effects.
- Tell a doctor before using clotrimazole if you are using Sofradex ear drops. Do not use these in your ear at the same time as clotrimazole.
