Cup Pessary, also called an Obstetric Pessary, works by stopping the shortening of the cervix. In a significant number of cases (over 9 out of 10), it replaces the need for surgery to prevent cervical insufficiency, which also helps to avoid premature births.
Designed for pregnant women whose cervix is prematurely shortened or dilated. It is also used for various other less common ailments in pregnant women, such as urinary stasis in the kidneys, varicose veins of the lower limbs and vulva, and pelvic pain syndrome.
